Personal Social Health and Economic Education (PSHE) is central to the wellbeing of each child and therefore embedded in the overall ethos of the whole school community. At St Mary’s each person is valued, positive relationships are encouraged and a safe and secure learning environment is available to all.
The PSHE curriculum helps children to:

develop respect and responsibility for themselves, for others and the world in which they live
develop emotional literacy ,social skills
Some of the main PSHE topics are covered in the RE syllabus as well as Science and Geography. These include:
Rules and Responsibilities
Sex and Relationships Education (SRE)
At St Mary’s we follow a programme called Journey in Love. This developmental and progressive programme includes tasks, activities and reflections covering the 5 areas of growth: physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual.
We’re keen to promote healthy lifestyles as part of the ethos of our school.
Mike James from One Life Suffolk is going to visit each class over the coming year to do activities with the children about how to make healthy choices.
The School Council consists of a boy and girl from each year group elected by the pupils. The School Council meets regularly to discuss ideas and proposals put forward by the pupils and gives an insight into the democratic process.
