Welcome to the Reception Class Page

We have had an exciting time learning about our bodies through our topic, 'Me, Myself and I'. We have explored what is inside out bodies and by becoming scientists have explored how out lungs, heart and digestive system work.

In Literacy we have enjoyed listening to stories such as Titch, Funnybones and Head to Toe and Poems such as 'I Like..' Through these experiences we have become better storytellers, begun to recognise common words and write in simple phrases.

In Maths we have practised our number recognition and counting accurately. We have begun to find out what numbers are hiding in larger numbers, for example 3 and 2 are hiding in 5.

Through our continuous provision we have continued to develop our social skills, imaginative play, fine and gross motor skills and demonstrated that we can apply what we have been learning.

Our next topic is ‘Let's Celebrate’ and we look forward to finding out about the many celebrations which occur at this time of year.

Please follow the links under the headings on the right to explore what we will be learning and try out ideas which can support your child.

Any questions or concerns, please do come and see us.

Parents play a crucial role in their children’s early language development. So the DfE have launched Hungry Little Minds – a three-year campaign to encourage parents and carers to engage in activities that support their child’s early learning and help set them up for school and beyond.
